Websites partly use so-called cookies. These do not damage your computer and contain no viruses. They serve to make our offer more user-friendly, effective and secure. They are small text files that are stored on your computer and stored by your browser.
Most of the cookies we use are so-called “session cookies”. They are automatically deleted after your visit. Others of this type remain stored on your device until you delete them. These cookies allow us to recognize your browser the next time you visit.
From application programs or parts or extensions of the operating system of a computer, which provide a service, a cookie can be “set”, for example, when starting the program. Normally no direct consent of the user is necessary for this. For some browsers, such as Apple Safari, cookies are disabled by default and must be allowed individually if a visit to a desired website requires it. The set cookies can later be found by the user via the browser or the operating system and deleted again. Security experts recommend a conscious use of cookies.
One of these files can contain any text, so besides a pure identification also any settings can save locally, but its length should not exceed 4 kilobytes (4 · 1024 Bytes), in order to remain compatible with all browsers. The cookies are transmitted with every transmitted file, including image files or any other file type; this is especially true for embedded elements, such as banner ads, that are embedded by servers other than the source of a displayed HTML file. For example, a single web page can lead to several that come from different servers and are sent back to each one.
They are managed exclusively by the client. Thus, the client decides whether, for example, one stored or deleted after the desired life of the web server. However, information can also be stored on the server, for example, to generate statistics on the number of web page views.
You can set your browser so that you are informed about the setting of these elements and allow them only in individual cases, the acceptance of these small files for certain cases or generally exclude and activate the automatic deletion of cookies when closing the browser. Disabling may limit the functionality of this site.
